What is the correct process to build Alluxio from source

Omkar Naidu
Hi All,

I am building Alluxio from source with some underfs changes.I am following below reference.

Reference:

As per above link we can skiptests while building and validate Alluxio using runTests command (bin/alluxio runTests).Is this approach is sufficient to cover testing following with manual testing or we need to run all unit tests while building Alluxio.

Regards
Omkar

Hi Omkar

Did you make any code changes to Alluxio? or did you just make configuration changes?

if you made code changes, running the unit tests is a good idea.
If you have not made any code changes in Alluxio, typically using the runTests command is sufficient.

Thanks,
David

since you have changed Alluxio src code,
it is better to run mvn without --skipTests

$  mvn clean install

In addition, you may want to run the UFS contract tests which can help you verify the UFS you changed is working properly:
see https://www.alluxio.org/docs/1.8/en/Contributing-to-Alluxio.html#unit-tests
